Hi, I'm Elizabeth Yates, a former competitive figure skater who's been deeply immersed in the world of skating ever since I was a little 2-year-old. This sport has become my true passion, and I've always nurtured a dream of showing off my skills in those dazzling dresses on television. Lucky for me, my amazing grandmother, Sandra Ball, stepped up as my personal custom costume designer, making my dream a reality. Together, we brought my aspirations to life, and it's been an incredible journey.
Figure skating has given me a remarkable platform to express myself through the fusion of music and costume. During my time in the singles category, I had the freedom to design my own dresses. One of the most striking creations came to life for my "All That Jazz" performance.
As my skating journey continued, I delved into the mesmerizing realm of ice dance. For this category, my Gran meticulously crafted my free dance dress to harmonize with the music and choreography of my routine. The whole process was a close collaboration between me, my coach, my mom, and of course, my talented grandmother. We invested our hearts and souls into every little detail, ensuring that the final result was nothing short of perfection. Gran even demonstrated her incredible skill by designing my free dance costume in a way that accommodated a daring lift, which definitely helped ease my pre-performance nerves.
The quality and artistry of her designs were truly exceptional, and it's no surprise that they earned endless compliments from everyone who had the chance to see them. Having someone like Gran in my corner has been an absolute blessing, bringing my dazzling dreams to life, making my skating journey all the more magical and unforgettable.
